Samuel Rambo
Well I was born in 1974 and raised in Spokane Washington, I have a couple of the most supportive parents you could ask for. Later I graduated high school from a small farm town, in SE Washington. I tried the college thing for a year, but I wasn't focus enough, so I decided to join the US Air Force in 1993. While in the service I moved around a lot, and visited many countries. In 1998 I met and married the most amazing woman, she has been my biggest supporter, which I know is rare. While in the Air Force my job was Air Traffic Control Radar, and I did many side jobs from time to time. I was a DJ, heck I even flipped burger at McDonalds, I was never too proud.
When I got out of the Air Force I went to work in Las Vegas for a government contractor, and I'll leave it at that, it was a real hush hush operation. I later decided, that was not the life I wanted to live.
So I moved back to Washington State and took a job with the government, doing scientific research on endangered Salmon and Steelhead. I mean heck, who doesn't like to drive a jet boat? In 2006 we adopted a 3 year old boy, he has become my "mini-me". In 2007 I won the Department of Commerce Silver Medal. I think it was about that point that I started wanting more in life, there was a void. So I started looking into glamour/model photography. In the winter of 2008 I contact a northwest photographer, Evan Moodie, his work with light amazed me, but I didn't have the first clue about studio strobes.
Samuel L Rambo shares with Ms. Bridgé how his passion for photography began .
Ms. Bridgé: When did your passion for photograph begin?
Answer: It was at a young age, my parents bought me a Kodak disk camera, I took pictures of anything and everything. It was sparked again while serving my country overseas in Europe, all of the old and amazing architecture and country sides I had read about as a kid growing up.
Ms. Bridgé: What was it about photography that grabbed you and never let go?
Answer: I have always been fascinated by light, and the way it hit an object, highlights a portion, and some of the shadows it cast, I can lose track of time while staring at a image that captures light in some unique way.
Ms. Bridgé: What do you love most about being a photographer?
Answer: Honestly this is tough, on one hand I love creating a image for a client that evokes an emotion, on the other hand I just enjoy being around good hearted people!
Ms. Bridgé: Growing up, is this what you thought you would be doing with your life?
Answer: Not at all, as a kid I had my mind set on either being a Seahawks (yes the football team) or a lawyer, haha, why lawyer? because they owned those beautiful cars, homes, and you always saw them in the movies, going to some great places on vacation.
Ms. Bridgé: Describe how you feel when you get that perfect shot?
Answer: It's a complete rush, that I can't wait to share with those involved around me. Honestly sometimes I just get up and act like fool, like I'm spiking a football. Trust me, ask my wife, I know she has seen it a time or two, haha.
In early 2009 I asked Evan if he would teach me, he agree, and a amazing model named Lynnzie Cherelle flew in for my private lesson, it was one of the best things that ever happen to me. The next day
I did my first solo shoot with another great model, Bethany Efaw, I stammered through, but it was rush like no other. Many models have helped me tweak my skills. In Nov 2009 I sent in my first submission to Maxim, it was a holiday shoot I did with Laura Mathieson, we got published on Maxim.com, it was a rush. Then in early 2010 I met a new model Megan Marie, we have done things for many different publications, quite the amazing woman. These models, some close friends, makeup artists and mentors, like Evan Moodie, Dean Fast, Ian McMillan have made this the most amazing ride of my life. And I don't want to get off.
A very special thanks to Samuel Rambo for sharing she passion with
